The Receipt of Time

Time is often misunderstood.

People think time forgets.

They think if enough days pass, the wound becomes invisible, the wrong becomes lighter, and the truth loses its address.

But time is not forgetful.

Time is patient.

It does not always speak immediately.

It does not chase loudly.

It does not argue with those who believe they have escaped what they did.

Time simply keeps the record.

Every broken promise.

Every twisted story.

Every wound dismissed as nothing.

Every truth pushed aside for someone else’s comfort.

Nothing disappears just because no one speaks about it.

Some consequences arrive quickly.

Others walk slowly, dressed like ordinary days.

But sooner or later, what was unpaid returns.

Not always as punishment that people can see from outside.

Sometimes it returns as restlessness.

Sometimes as exposure.

Sometimes as the loss of trust that can never be bought back.

That is the receipt of time.

It does not scream.

It does not beg to be noticed.

It simply arrives when the moment is ready.

Because time does not erase what was done.

It only waits quietly

until every unpaid truth returns

with its receipt.
