The Broken Bridge
Some bridges are not broken by time.
They do not collapse because two people grew distant, or because the road between them became too long. Some bridges break in one moment — the moment truth is traded for convenience.
Before that moment, the bridge may have looked strong.
It may have carried conversations, shared worries, small laughter, and the fragile idea of sisterhood. It may have survived difficult days because both sides believed there was still something worth protecting.
But trust is not built only by kindness on easy days.
Trust is tested when the truth becomes uncomfortable.
And sometimes, that is when the bridge reveals its cracks.
When wrongdoing is protected more than honesty, something changes. When loyalty becomes a shield for what should be corrected, the bond stops feeling safe. When someone chooses to twist the truth instead of standing fairly in it, the bridge no longer connects two hearts.
It becomes a warning.
Forgiveness may still come.
Politeness may still remain.
The outside may still look calm.
But the old closeness cannot always return.
Because once someone shows they are willing to trade truth for convenience, the heart learns where not to stand again.
Some bonds are not broken by distance.
They are broken by the moment truth is treated like something negotiable.
And when loyalty shields wrongdoing,
trust does not fade quietly — it falls.
