The Unafraid

There are storms that do not only pass through a life.

They try to rename the person standing inside them.

They try to turn softness into silence, patience into surrender, and pain into something invisible. They arrive loudly, break what they can, and expect fear to become the permanent furniture of the soul.

But not every broken thing becomes defeated.

Some hearts learn how to stand even while aching.

Some souls become quiet not because they have lost their voice, but because they are no longer willing to waste it on those who only understand power.

She did not survive because the storm was gentle.

She survived because something inside her refused to bow to bitterness.

The life made for her may have become heavy.

The days may have tasted bitter.

The walls may have witnessed more than they should have.

But fear was never successfully planted.

One day, freedom will arrive.

And when it does, it will not look like revenge.

It will look like a door opening, a breath returning, and a woman walking away from what once tried to destroy her.

Because some people mistake control for victory,

until they realize the person they tried to break

has become unafraid.
