The Missed Branch
There was once a squirrel who was very skilled at jumping from one branch to another.
Whenever the truth came close, he leapt.
Whenever a question became too clear, he leapt again.
Whenever someone pointed to the broken nest, he shook the leaves and said,
“Look over there instead.”
For a long time, the forest only saw his speed.
Some called him clever.
Some thought he was innocent.
Some believed the noise of the leaves more than the sound of the fall.
But truth has its own season.
It may stay quiet for a while.
It may wait behind the branches.
It may let the jumper enjoy his little performance.
Until one day, he jumps as usual —
but the branch does not bend for him anymore.
This time, the leaves do not hide him.
This time, the forest hears the crack.
This time, the ground receives what the branches can no longer protect.
Because a lie may travel from tree to tree, but it cannot turn the whole forest blind forever.
And when the moment of truth arrives, even the most practiced jumper can miss.
