The Mirror of Innocence

He was not a teacher.
He was a mirror.
And the children reflected what they saw.

Tiny hands struck back,
not from malice,
but from imitation.
They had seen fists fall,
they had seen cruelty disguised as discipline,
and they mirrored it in their innocence.

He lied to cover bruises,
inventing stories of eye problems,
pretending that pain was sickness.
But children know.
Children see.
Children carry the truth in their eyes,
and their actions speak louder than his denials.

Even innocence refused to stay silent.
The child’s words — “I don’t love you, father” —
were not rebellion,
but reflection.
A mirror held up to a man who had taught violence instead of love.

The lesson:
Children do not learn love from lies.
They learn truth from what they witness.
And when they witness abuse,
they become the living proof of injustice.
The cycle of violence does not stay hidden —
it is carried forward in the hands and voices of the innocent.
